Ahh isn’t it wonderful. Right now it’s one of my two favorite buildings in the city. By which I mean there are two buildings I’ve taken quite a liking to. There’s no shortage of nice boxes around, but this and another somehow take the cake.
Some folks by the name OGA designed it. I’d love to work for them. Eventually I’ll get around to retouching and sending them some work I’ve done of this stack.
According to Zillow the most recent unit traded in 2013 for a measly $3,555 per square foot. Most of Manhattan in the under-a-million range is around $1200ish/psf. Anything with decent light/view and reasonable subway access starts around $0.5m (for about 400 square feet [based on the above figure]). Boston places in great neighborhoods look more like $500-700psf, though there are fewer tiny apartments to squeeze into. Drop-dead gorgeous homes in Minneapolis with brilliant wood work and a good hunk of land start at about $200psf. Oof right?
Anyhoo, things on the mind. Skepticism about the current boom in the land of stocks. Mildly suspicious of the booming real estate on this coast I call home. Generally optimistic but unsure where to place the chips.
To Boston this weekend.
