I took the plunge. I fired up Criagslist today, typed in iPad, and now tonight I am in possession of this magical device. Not unlike the phone, but big. More engaging in a way. Of course none of this is new to me as I’ve been using one for weeks on shoots. It’s a darned fine tool and the clients love it as much as I do. So now I have it.
Craigslist transactions are best when trust is fully established in the email chain following the inquiry to a post. The post goes much of the way, but the first response seals the deal. Email signature? Use of full name? Well written (free of glaring typos, showing more than 2 seconds went into writing it)? By the time he handed me the box and I flipped it on, all is well. “You can play around, use it a bit.” “Nope, here’s the cash. Everything’s as it should be.”
Based on much experience, young Asian men who arrive in nice cars are the most prepared and confidently quick with the transaction. No chit chat, no awkwardness, just a fully-charged, wiped-clean (both digitally and physically), device just as described. Then it’s just the soft patter of fingers confirming the cash count and sayonara my friend.
Thanks.
