It’s been a thin line lately between impulse and compulsion. On important and/or educational matters. It’s treated me well in the past, and therefore I tend to trust the gut even when I don’t have full evidence to support it.
This photo being a direct result of such a thing. A few days ago I was struck by a desire to have a certain lens. The underlying reasons included professionalism, frustration with a current lens, and purchasing power afforded by mounting capital reserves. I read some reviews today to confirm what I knew, then queried Craigslist.
A couple were for sale (they’re commodities really), and one for an unusually good price with clear and confident English. An email, some texts, and an appointment. A trip to the ATM, a train ride across town, a purchase of the Journal at a Starbucks to rent my time there. Looks good, functions right, everything you stated in the ad is spot on. Here’s an envelope stuffed with bills, count’em if you’d like.
A pleasure.
