Ahhh, the highway. I like Highway more than Freeway. But this I suppose is technically the realm of freedom (freewaydom?) (ignoring the tolls of course. Tollway).

Roads as connectors of the free world. With a car one can get anywhere by way of the road. And travelers need their needs taken care of, so every 15 miles there’s a gas station, Subway, McDonald’s, and perhaps a bar. Dependably. All across the nation these little pockets of servitude exist. Every hundred miles you have a big’ol shopping plaza with a Best Buy. Must’ve seen four Best Buys on the way from Boston to NYC.

Sameness.
