I finally kicked off a project that’s been rattling around in my skull for a while, and it’s directly related to this. It’s called “Project Coffee Shop.” It’s a blog dedicated to exploring the customer experience of coffee shops, not the coffee itself. It’s everything that surrounds the coffee, starting with the cup, and going through all the senses and beyond.

Mostly it’s an excuse to focus on a single category of retail environments. Boston has at least 70 great independently-owned coffee shops. That’s a heaping handful of interesting people to meet, beautiful environments to explore, and waking-way-before-dawn-to-photograph opportunities.
