Ahhh, the window decal. All the cool kids are doing it. It is very in. And it seems to always be done well, as with this gold’n black at Orchard on Newbury Street.
It’s an interesting mix of local and national/int’l tenants on the big N mile (the Nile perhaps?). Vans DQM just opened up down the street, playing to a very similar crowd as this Orchard folk. The fashiony brands are a mix of indies and big corporate. The nail salons are all local.
Something to do with licensing methinks. Can’t have a manicurist operating across state lines. Or some such legal thing. Supercuts and the hair franchises seem to be able to. I think retail liquor licenses are limited to two per company per city. Whatever the case, there’s more to it all than meets the eye on the front window.
Government and whatnot.
