It’s about raw space being filled with goods. Sometimes a vanilla box (move-in-ready), other times a months-long cash-eating renovation. Heck, over in the Seaport PwC just signed a lease on a massive new building that’s currently nothing but a slab of old asphalt.
Urban commercial strips, at least in the gentrif(ied/ying) areas are full of underutilized boxes. Some vacant, others on their way out, all full of potential for the right entrepreneur. The location’s right, and thankfully everything else can be improved.
Part of my attraction to shooting this all is to simply see how the emptiness has been filled. What customer experience has been willfully created, extruded from the imagination of the operator (or the corporate style guide… which aren’t all bland thankfully).
Furniture it is!
