An early opportunity awaits. Alarm is set for 4:45am. All for access to a new coffee shop. To try’n capture the beginning of its hopefully long life.
I’m my own unpaid intern. Almost. Debbie Millman’s “Design Matters” podcast – she interviews creative industry folk – recently touched on the “two-bucket model” of design firms. There’s the one bucket of work that you do to pay the bills, and then the next bucket (pails of time, here), is devoted to the projects you really want to be doing.
My money bucket is full. Topped off. Not overflowing, mind you. And the other bucket kind of plods around, scooping up various puddles the occasional downpour. Messy analogies really not getting anywhere here. I’m shooting very early tomorrow because I want to get better.
Done.
DR lives!
