Well, it happened. I’m sure we’re all as informed as anyone by now. A national average level of situational knowledge that will hopefully rise in the coming days. At best some clarity and closure will surface, but it ain’t pretty at the other end of the possible-outcomes-lottery.

This was the vantage throughout my day, a fifth-floor balcony less than a block from the second hit. Can’t remember if I saw the first eruption, but the latter was in plain view and full sonic force.

I can’t recommend highly enough the following audiobook reading by David Foster Wallace about his experience with neighbors on 9/11. Felt similar to my retreat to the garden-level of a marathoner, where for hours our little crowd took in the rerunning footage and government statements.

Ugly, but over.
