First, a truth. There is nothing that I have experienced in my time that causes such viscous excitement to boil within me like the known near-future arrival of a UPS package. It is destiny itself, bouncing within corrugated brownness on a nearby road, surrounded by a hundred other boxéd delights for a scattered citizenry.
I do not remember the first time I experienced this. No doubt the overwhelming rush of the wait scrambled my circuits and erased weeks of feebler memories. Perhaps there are entire dark ages of my brain that correspond to deliverances of Amazonian origin (or B&H).
As soon as materialism incarnate has been signed for, well, that’s where it gets odd. If I’m in the middle of something, like, I don’t know, dishes or reading the paper or some other petty task, I’ll let the box sit. Set it somewhere and heck, no rush, I’ll get to it when I get to it, whether that’s today or in 2020.
Possession logistics.
