Swanky cocktail bar vignettes and atmosphere, small-to-medium sized products in portable studio, commercial/retail facades, and promotional headshots. These were the four jobs I was tapped to shoot in the last 30 days.
Starting out years ago with this camera thing, I’d always been interested in understanding how all different kinds of images came to be made. How they were produced, what the photographer did, the technical aspects, the qualitative underpinnings. One look at my portfolio site’ll show you how much I’ve experimented over the years (click here).
And “art” never really interested me, as something to create. Though I’ve flirted with it at times, my major focus is excellence in craft. Much of it is idea driven of course, leading to all manner of projects, but the foundation of my daily visual exercise is simply play. Joyous, challenging, gratifying.
Back to the Hawthorne, a late-night finish to the job.
