Ahhh, the portrait. Much of my lighting (self-)education has come from experimenting with my own visage. Very rarely does it have anything to do with creating a photo of myself that I’d use to represent myself. And the result is that I’ve got this pile of me without a whole lotta’ me.

My annually-changing business card has always been a conversation starter with its self portrait that, with about three seconds of review, typically elicits the comment “is that you?” Physically sure. But it’s more an example of what I can do. Of what I do do. And what I’d love to do for you, Mr./Ms. New Acquaintance and Potential Future Client.

Whatever the case, it’s all part of the longing for well-used leisure time. Of forward progress on something within me, a building of skill and understanding. A continued refinement of craft in pursuit of vision.

Somethin’.
