Shadow Crossings

Finally got out to the ocean. The Google Maps inspired endeavor from … perhaps years ago. Boston is all but surrounded by wisps of abstract land, and where there’s land there’s people. Roads, houses, stoplights, shadows from stop lights, etc.

There’s the whole permanence of the ocean thing. And civilization’s impositions on the natural are by contrast mere flashes in the pan (world-pan?). And even shorter lived are the daily crossings of shadow, not waiting for the green light but missing the white.

But to us humans, practitioners of movement and physical exertion, even the shadows seem suspended, motionless. But over time they’ll jump if we sit still. Imagine how they must seem to a honeybee.

Potential & the present.
