Going Somewhere

Long ago whilst driving or passengering I’d think about the faceless others on the road. Who were they, where were they going? Each vessel transporting a life, moving beings from place to place in pursuit of commerce, love, work.

It’s a feeling not unlike staring up at stars and deeply contemplating the origins of such distant light, what it’s really like on the surface of those wondrous balls of fusion so far away. Or staring into the single bonfire, thinking not about the fire but of the untold masses throughout the history of civilization who’ve seen the same thing.

I suppose it all comes down to stepping outside the self, mentally disconnecting in a way that enables inphysical swimming within the dark computer behind the eyes. The opposite of the thought experiment where you plan out the 24 hours after winning the lottery.

Arriving elsewhere.
