A new phone number, an excuse to make new business cards. A daunting task to be sure. How to represent oneself on a slip of paper? What first impression to make? What conversation to have 200 times this year?

Much more daunting than the photo side of the card is the text side. The graphic layout. The desire to effectively communicate the components of content, and more importantly not look like some schmuck who can’t lay out text. To do it well is so difficult for me that I’ll admit I never really have managed to do it well.

I’m dead set on having a self portrait on one side (something that has served me very well over the years), and that’s a challenge more up my alley. I identified something like 20 variables that go into it, from lighting to wardrobe to color blending to emotion to (on and on and on). Now it’s just concept shooting, but once I get a haircut I’ll have about a week to execute.

To rectangles of self.
