She’s riding shotgun with all the space in the world. Cars with interiors seemingly more spacious than some studio apartments. And behind her the meat packed into the back seat. The arm out the window ’cause there ain’t nowhere else to put it.
There’s something about the texture in the paint contrasted to the opaque glass. These curved forms that define that which is the style of the vessel. Nicked, patched, scratched into automobile antiquity, but still serving valiantly as the skin of the beast.
Those Playboy stickers were always around if you looked closely enough. But more interestingly was the use of the Apple apple as status symbol. Sleek and customized cars, stripped of their Volkswagen emblems for the purity of form perhaps, would proudly display a white apple in the back window. On the gas tanks of fancy motorcycles. The iPhone as status symbol.
