Riding Up

Photo work, cycling around, bike polo, heaps of Chinese food and piña coladas, and finally an exhausted little gus in his white chair in front of the MacBook. Sifting through polo photos from weekends past in search of postable content.

But really. This guy’s the man. But within the frame, he’s the base element. The anchor so to speak. And he plays the part well.

But the photo works because of what’s above him. The three players around net. The shadows in the top right of the surly opponents, waiting in the court’s flank, squeezing their handlebars in anticipatory anxiety. It’s everything around him that complements it and makes it work.

Now to the depths of blackness and imagined narratives.
