Another consecutive glimpse back at the NYC weekend, courtside at The Pit in Chinatown. The epicenter of east-coast bike polo for the time being. Another tournament will soon be thrown and flocked to.
Shooting here with the same 50mm I dropped a few weeks back. It takes the entire length of my arms to get into focusing distance, anything less than about 2.5 feet and it really struggles and peters out. Some unseen motors encounter friction they’re not accustomed to and they just say No, no, we can’t overcome such internal damage.
Whatever the case, this is one of a few shots that document my time at The Pit. It’s stubble, the increasingly scratched and bent sunglasses, the temporal haircut, the hickey on my neck that isn’t a hickey at all (one of the DC kids got me in the throat with a wayward shot by the net. Just happy the extent of the damage was a hickeyish mark).
Free but still at work.
