Victim of the Cough

I’m still trying to put into words, even if only within my head, what it is about New York City that does it for me. I think much of it comes to it exceeding the finitude of Boston (and Minneapolis). The “happening” parts of Boston are generally separated from the living quarters. There’s downtown and scattered commercial districts, but mostly it’s residential. Manhattan isn’t infinite, but it’s certainly much less finite than Boston. Every block is a pleasure, a discovery.

This woman here, diligent animator that she is, opened (/blew) my mind with our conversation on that which is hand drawn animation. Photography seems so easy in comparison. So nearly insignificant. She’s two years into a project that will ultimately yield three minutes of … paradise? It’s nothing short of extraordinary. And all my pursuit entails is hitting a black button.

Like so many of my recent posts, this again is one of those “hey, gotta shoot this” moments. She’s something of a cooperator if I ever saw one. No resistance, no questioning, just “ok.” I hope it’s because she knows there’s something good I’m seeing, and not just her exhausted (from recent sicklitude) self giving in.

Also she formally introduced me to the Shake Shack. Forever indebted.
