Before the Rush

The only thing shorter than a New York Minute is a Manhattan block. They’re all of what, fifteen yards in length? Whatever the official dimensions of them may be, I opted to walk from Canal st. to 90th instead of jumping on the mechanical underground snake. Google maps says it’s about five miles. 20 NY blocks to a mile?

Enough ruminations on measurations. Here we’ve got a slice (albeit rectangular) of observed NYC. A dirtyish wall and a swank restaurant in the hour before those who dine descend into the plush cushions of its chairs. A rich visual seen only in passing, and most blocks had more than one such glimpse.

The big question that tomorrow will answer is simply, can Gaff tape be used to cover/prevent welts on one’s delicate little feet? We’ll (I’ll) see.

NYC for Portraiture.
