A walk in the darkness awaits me, suitcase in tow. I’ll be checking a bag for the first time in years, bleary eyed at the terminal at 6:00AM. The outsized backpack cannot contain the forty pounds of photo gear I’ll be dragging home to document over the holidays. The pile of gear used to create this very shot.
I’ve sort of fallen into this look, this aesthetic. I picked up this gold reflector at a lighting workshop last year but didn’t really take advantage of it until recently, though much previous experimentation with it certainly underscores the current technique.
The goldness, seen on the right side of my neck/cheek, is brought in and stands up quite well to the multitudinous color adjustments that are applied throughout. What I end up with is a look that’s appreciably acceptable with a slight tinge of my style infused into it all. Exact same lighting as my recent DEANS series, linked to above the image.
Haircut today and homeland tomorrow.
