Resting on the Ropes
I forget how many rounds these guys bout for. Probably three. Ninety seconds? Still can’t remember. For me it was fightfightfightfight bell rings and ref yells TIME. Then some rest, and then back to the punch fest.
At left is a man giving water and likely advice. At right is a hardened soul, staring out at an opponent. It was later revealed that this guy (at right) was a fire chief of a nearby town, and was not particularly enthused with his fighter’s performance in the fight after all was over. Harshness and the brutal definitive conclusions of a working class man.
Note the wrinkles in the gloves’ leather at its side and its smoothness in its sweet spot.
