On The Wall

Pouring over some work from Spain after pouring a large number of glasses of wine in preparation for something that may be considered a party tonight. The impending socialization, conversation, other ations, etc… The pouring over memories so recent but detached from the day-to-day life I lead in Cambridge, America.

This is, quite simply, a piece of art hanging in the Reina Sofia museum in Madrid. Their big contemporary art stronghold. It’s art, but you don’t see the artwork itself. The only thing visible it the containing structure, necessary to display the piece.

The gray at left is the wall, perhaps ten or twenty feet from the hanging frame, with that thick blur that happens to an object incredibly close to the lens. The whole photo really breaks down into rectangles of variously sharp monochromatic shapes. I don’t remember if I even converted it to black’n white. That’s just the starkness of the institutional setting.

And so it hangs on, as do I.
