Rainbow
The weekend’s street photography workshop with Harvey Stein (to which I lent my helping hand) brought the class out to the pride parade. Lacking a proper rain fly, I made due with discarded latex balloon bags and gaffers tape, allowing the curved glass of the fisheye to peek out ever so slightly.
I’ve had a lingering project idea centered around getting underneath people’s umbrellas with this lens, turning the overcast sky into a wash of color and establishing a closeness with the person beneath. And so I shot this photograph about 40 times (40 different umbrella bearers) throughout the parade (only rainbow umbrellas like this one).
Looking forward to continuing this on future rainy days.
