The caption reads Kanye precisely because that was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this after I shot it. I don’t think he’d wear this shoe, I haven’t seen him wear the shoe, I’m not certain. But I think it may have to do with the fact that he did a song called “Flashing Lights” that I quite enjoyed, especially the one-shot music video (is that right?).
So this is from a couple months back during the product era of my studio photography class (which eventually moved towards people centricity). Unfortunately the shoes were worn for a day before I got to shoot them so a couple of stretch marks show. They somehow taint the purity of the shoe, the unblemished fabric.
But really the image is all about that crazy light coming through. It’s the light that makes the shoe cool. The shoe on its own is nice and perfectly wearable, but it’s the enhancement of it through this wonderful shine that makes it attractive.
This came up as I was trawling through my archives for my portfolio, specifically the to-be product page.
