American Apparel, a fascinating company indeed. Accused scumbags sit in their executive thrones, friends of mine want and do work their aisles, the edgiest/sexiest/most offensive print advertising today carries their trademark, and they, unlike virtually every company in the fashion game, make it all right here in the USA.

Retail storefronts, and retail establishments in general, have really caught my eye lately, photographically. I’m unsure of the commercial potential involved with photographing them, but I’m intrigued.

One of my photo professors has been shooting Cabela’s outdoors stores in their pre-opening morning hours through an arrangement with someone in corporate there. No money is exchanged, but unbridled access is granted, no questions asked. And his work from this series (he’s photographed many stores, maybe a dozen across the country) is nothing short of superb. – find it in the “series” menu under “Cabelas.”

Always thinking…
