The Cupcake Supreme

My spring break is in session. My clothing is all wet. Boston had a bit of a rain spell today, and my morning and post-class walk commute rendered all manner of denim and cotton saturated with sweet water. My route takes me past a most lovely cupcakery, called SWEET, and so cupcakes became the subject of the day.

I didn’t get quite what I had imagined photographically, looking back on the shoot, but this shot among a couple others stood out. It’s their flagship cupcake, the Red Velvet. Its emergence from the encompassing blackness infuses a certain epic quality. While standing perhaps three inches tall on the table, it is seen here as a monument.

New York City tomorrow to see an actor friend’s closing performance of a play called “Someone is Living in this House.” There will be photography aplenty.

  1. Mmmmmm! Sculpture as food. Or is it food as sculpture?
