Doubled Up

A studio session today led to this winecentric composition of … dark glass and red labels. There’s even a dash of Spanish in there. Or perhaps Italian.

See the bottoms of the bottles? Didn’t think so. In my finite time in the studio I couldn’t figure out a way to reflect some white on the bottoms of the bottles against total black seamless. So here we are, one bottle elevated on a makeshift pedestal, the other dominating the foreground, shown from above-the-label and up.

But it’s working for me. I hid a couple glaring spots from one of the lights which I found distracting (I could have thrown some black tape on the bottles for purity’s sake, but didn’t), but otherwise this is straight from the camera. (After posting I notice the dirt/scuffs all over the label… will fix that another time. Gotta sleep so I can shoot again in the morning)

Amazing what controlled lighting can do for’ya.
