The Afternoon Dark

Goodbye to Uptown. My imminent return to Boston for another semester looms. Shortly I’ll be reveling in the wonders of studio photography, opportunity assessment, and small business growth’n mgmt (the latter two in the entrepreneurship dept). Also I’m surprisingly excited for managerial accounting. And the inevitable and frequent journeys to the southward isle of Manhattan.

But here today is a wonderful assortment of cool toned geometries. With the exception of the yellow in the stoplight and the incandescence behind it, it’s all white, black, and cold.

I particularly like how some of the objects are incredibly solid. The JUUT sign and surrounding concrete has an air of permanence somehow. But then there are the seas of warped reflections. The sign walker is doubled and hunched and neon signs across the avenue are rippled beyond legibility.

To top it all off, the face. At bottom right we have a larger than life head, brooding in the blackness, perhaps pondering ponders only pondered by printed hair models.

UPTOWN…
