The Man of Rhythm and Grooves

The uncle is seen in the DJ booth at Cafe Maude down on 54th and Penn in South Minneapolis. Heck of a restaurant, if I do say so myself. Best salad of my life last night, and perhaps the pecan tart too. And the music was ‘a groovin. KFAI radio DJ and blogger Larry Englund (jazz interviews and other goodness at http://rhythmandgrooves.net/) was the man behind the music.

For some reason the corner of the booth, which sweeps in from the right and up from the bottom, is perhaps the defining piece of the shot. Perhaps that’s the frame that separates the DJ from the restaurant. On the inside there’s turntables, level adjusters, and stripes galore. On the outside there’s taps on the bar, track lighting down from the ceiling, and the indulgers.

It wasn’t nearly as bright in there as this makes it look, but alas with everything dark there wasn’t much to see. Eh. I like it.

Thanks Larry!
