Second Court NYC
Polo has been intensely on the mind lately. A flare of entrepreneurial potential with limitless outcomes is just plain flooding my circuitry. The emails are a’blazin, the calipers are out a measurin’ and I just might get out and play Sunday for the first time in many. many. too many. months.
This gem’s from a tournament in New York this year and it was originally a single frame in a perhaps forty-shot sequence. In that way it wasn’t at all a carefully composed photograph, but rather the far end of the extreme of “Spray and Pray,” as in shooting thousands of images in the hopes that one or two will be good. I suppose I’m not bothered by this because A. this wasn’t shot to be a photograph, and B. it’s a happy little accident, borne from the bloated body of visual experimentation I regularly caress.
The Lensbaby lens gives us the pronounced blurring on each side of our man (JT from Richmond). I quite like that he’s crossing over this line that juts right whilst he leans to the leftward side of the frame. Besides these two diagonals, the rest of the frame is just a series of horizontals.
Agghh! Polo! Pleasure! Aaaiiiieeeeee…
