Stooping for Food

Amid a cacophony of file reorganization and other controlled computer chaos I elected to pull this out of the somewhat recent air for a second look. It was during part of one of my late-night scramble-to-shoot-something sessions that I got the idea to do a series of self portraits lit entirely by the light of refrigeration.

The camera is all tilted about which has everything sideways obviously (not that anything would be falling out of my empty refrigerator in the event of a massive kitchen rocking), which is neat and all, and probably plays the most significant role in making this an interesting shot, but the real meat of this image is in the small details that will be explored in the following paragraph that will contain much shorter sentences. I promise.

Arm. Look at that light on the arm there. Surrounded by darkness on both sides, we get this sliver of highlight on the left side which quickly turns to dark. Half way through that pre-push-up-era tricep the dark turns to kind of a middle ground fleshy hue. I don’t know about you, but that’s one of the first things I noticed here.

Yep.
