Winter's Mark

The trusty Mini (seen left) brought me from Chicago to Minneapolis, and like some cliche story the journey was a passage from a chilly fall into winter’s blustery grasp. By that I mean I hadn’t seen snow this year until halfway through the drive when the sleet came on hard and was followed by the thousands of flying white pixies that, illuminated by headlights, enveloped the vehicle for the final stretch. And now the roads are snow.

And so this is the first photo of winter for me. It’s the street I live on, with a shadowy appearance of my vehicle of choice. The leaves are all gone so the skeletons of trees get cast black on the street by the sunlight behind.

Maybe when I drive back to Chicago in a couple days it’ll already be springtime there, with budding flowers and mass confusion for all.
