Strut Reading

The days of Michigan Ave in floral dresses and scarves used only for the sake of style are now gone for the season. With a long drive ahead of me, I will soon be venturing into the heart of the blustery Minnesota winter that is already well under way a scant seven(teen?) hours away, traffic forbid.

Let’s call this photo a commission (well, more so a favor). My friend and her room mate wanted photos of themselves in Chicago. I cheerily oblige. The camera comes out and my lack of model interaction experience excels and they generally fret and squirm for the lens.

While it’s not explicitly CHICAGO, the two subjects certainly know where it is. It’s the heart of downtown! It’s Michigan Ave! Heck, there’s even some lapidary text at center top that states this fine channel. So it works for them. And they’re the intended recipients. So I think I’m good on that part.

I don’t think I used “lapidary” correctly. It’s one of the literally hundreds of words I underlined (in vocabularious bewilderment) in my recent inhalation of David Foster Wallace’s Infinite Jest. But seriously. Most compelling and educative piece (brick) of fiction I’ve ever consumed. $12 on Amazon for like, 3 months of spectacular daily reading.
