The French Toast of Gods

Holy breakfast, Batman! I met with my cronies up on the north north for a late morning restaurant excursion and was introduced to hands down the most gus-happifying desayuno in months, years, possibly eons. M Henrietta on Granville.

Image-wise two things happened. I pulled out the camera for some quick and pure documentary shots. Photos to preserve the memory of the day. Who I was with, what the setting was like, the scant syrup left on my plate, etc… And I got lucky with this composition turning out so nicely seeing as it was shot on my extended arm whilst sitting as normal, trying not to make people too self conscious.

Decent composition = candidate for some experimentation in color and other variables. After some unsatisfying attempts at bringing it to a good place I started throwing all of the settings all over the place. Like if you were sculpting some clay and in frustration pulled out a sledge hammer and commenced some serious mutilation of your earthen material. At one point in this madness there was a glimmer of something profound, and with a few tweaks this was born.

I’m not entirely sure what it is. It’s moody. It’s dark. It’s reddish. And it spurs the remembrance of Dulche Something Rumba French Toast.
