Evening at the Park

Today fixing the battery on the car took precedence over heading to the park. Yesterday, with the same dead car in the lot, I was all skate. Thankfully I was able to depart my money and rejuvenated the vehicle with some daylight to spare and get over to shoot this fine day.

I can’t quite figure out what’s going on here that makes me so attracted to this. There’s clearly one part of the photo that’s all this smoothed over curvature and then the leggy skaters in their own realm above. The figures aren’t quite blacked out silhouettes, but I suppose they’re close, depending on your monitor’s brightness levels. But what makes this combination so potent?

Also you’ll notice the frame is not level, earthwise. This bugged me at first but now I suspect it may add to the image. Or I’m just feebly constructing some kind of excuse for its tilt. I do know that the image looses all of its oomph if it is cropped into levelness (I tried).
