Runner Up

Had I not had the good fortune (fate?) of kissing the camera yesterday, this one would have taken the introductory honors.

This seems to be entirely about the contrast between camera’s rigidity and my facade’s perhaps more organic nature. The camera is all right angles and straight lines, sort of, at least the most prominent ones. The face is all curves and soft flesh with specks of hair aplenty. And the hat… well, the hat jives more with the camera, but I’ll have to think that one over.

I also like the fact that the camera make and model aren’t explicitly revealed. Perhaps that boils it down to the camera as a generic tool instead of “oh sweetz 7D cool!!!” Though I don’t expect any of you to have that exact reaction, I know very well that I’m always scoping out what model cameras are. It’s a distraction, really, because it hardly has any impact on eventual image quality (composition skills and other non-technical loveliness make great images, not cameras).

Notice how the white of my eye peeks out from the shadow all around it. The shape created by the background and my lips. The placement of chin in the corner. All entirely accidental details that contribute to this being something I find to be of utmost viewing pleasure.
