Off Season

A little bit of snow. A little bit of water. Some boats. A little bit of throwing this all together. Voila!

Shot whilst on a photo walk with a buddy, something I hadn’t really done before and haven’t done since. I’m sure I’ll do it again with some future photographic acquaintance, but I found the afternoon to be a bit strange and choppy. Choppy in that one of us was constantly stopping to grab a shot whilst the walk progressed, interrupting conversation and staggering the pace of it all. On the brighter side, you get to talk a whole lot about photography.

I think part of the reason this works, beyond the general decent composition, is the perspective created by the angle of the boats. You can see I’m standing straight with the second boat in, and each of the rest are kind of bending inwards. Slight, perhaps, but it gives the photo some much needed three dimensionality.

No sailing that day.
