So I finally got around to making a video out of the five thousand frames I shot at The Estate Boston nightclub a while back. It’s just over a minute long, so run over and check it out on Vimeo. I’m quite satisfied with how it turned out. It’s quick. It’s cool. It’s got great music (the style they play in the club on Saturdays). And finally it shows the club pretty well as I experienced it.

The big hold up was almost entirely attributable to my hardware deficiency. I could flip through about 250 stills at a time, rating sequences, deleting a ton of it, and otherwise doing a first pass on all of the footage. After 250, my memory or something would seize up and if I was lucky I could get my computer to restart after five minutes of struggling with the poor thing. I finally finished that painful process (it was fun and motivating to do it while it worked – seeing some great shots I took and thinking about how to combine them…).

I had been procrastinating throwing it all together, fearing it’d just be a huge frustrating waste of a couple hours where I would hopelessly make pleas to my unforgiving circuitry to just let. me. finish it. The club staffer who originally gave me access emailed me again wondering where the footage was earlier today and … well, I threw it all together finally. It was painful for about ten minutes, after which I figured out a workaround that kept my computer happy and led to great success (think Borat voice).

Gosh, most boring blog post ever, right? Nothing, I repeat nothing has been said. It’s just me complaining about my computar. Quit reading, check out the video, lemme’ know what you done thunk.

  1. So Awesome! The music fits perfectly with the visual style. And it makes me want to go to The Estate.
