My interest in photography stems from diaristic daily shooting and the great gratification I get from the entire process, from capture to editing to sharing. Having shot opportunistically across many genres over the past three years, I plan to focus more on portraiture (both studio and environmental) and architectural work moving forward.

Gustav – I just spent over an hour going through your archives… really amazing photographs!!! Images that instantly get burned into the brain and soul! You pull something out of the mundane that demands to be noticed only after it has been noticed, and then one just wants to keep going back and look at those pictures again and again. The invisibility, humility, and absolute power of truth, becomes a clarity in your photographs that is quite breathtaking. Keep it up – you will definitely be famous some day. Then we will be sitting in our rocking chairs and say: “Guess who took Caitlin and Barry’s wedding pictures, way back when? Gustav Hoiland!” … and people will think we are making that up out of some strange need to feel important.
