Some excellent polo tonight, even without three of our star players who are currently representing Boston in a big tournament in Ottawa this weekend. I don’t know if they’ve settled on a name yet… they’ll certainly have to soon. I’m a big fan of Triple Bypass (given the three player teams), but they may well opt for something more crude and polo-like.

I can hardly believe this was shot at 1/250′th. That’s largely due to me having so little experience with fast lenses, here opening to a grandiose 1.4. I’d be tempted to pick up this lens (currently borrowed from the school) if the focusing weren’t so poor on it. It runs for $400, the next step up, presumably with much better focusing capabilities, runs for something like $1200. Not today dear friends.

So if the polo player shown here were in sharp focus I’d be a bit happier of a man, but I can live with this. It has a near-sci-fi-esque mood to it. These giant lights, looming above entirely standard asphalt. Also there’s the lens flare, those five or so dots of light that seem to just be there without source (optics shortcoming).

A weekend begun.
