As if petty (and prodigious) buying decisions weren’t taxing enough, the cash-for-photographic-prop rationale often runs through my circuits. Fourteen American bank notes for cheap plastic glasses? Pah. But Fourteen bucks for a chance to hone my product photography skills in addition beefing up the styling in forthcoming shoots? Done. Deal.
I made the gut wrenching decision to drop all of $1.57 for some “sport gel” to experiment with some hair goodness. I predict there will be much of this hair-centric work in the coming days/weeks. I’m not sure where it’s going, but we’ll see. Today I probably spent more time fiddling with the hair than I did actually shooting.
Not sure about the faintly lit lips, chin and triangle of shoulder beneath. Clearly the strong point of the photo is in the forehead (and its sharp line against the background), the curves in the hair and to a lesser degree the sunken eyes beneath the frames. I’ll have to digest this one for a week or two and then sit bolt-upright in bed and scream out in some religious-like-experience my astounding new insight into this matter.
All before midnight.
