A wonderful youthful show opened tonight at Panopticon Gallery entitled Kids are People Too. At some point during my internly duties (slinging a camera around, interviewing artists, generally capturing event goodness) I imagined a lighting setup that I thought might churn out some interesting looks.
And voila, ’tis here! A flash behind me on either side, perhaps three feet back at a 30 degree angle to my head. These are pointing right at the camera, on which a 2×3″ piece of foam core is mounted (circle cut out for the lens, just barely visible if you scope my eyes very closely).
Pretty neat. I realize the idea came from some other setup I had heard of that was a bit more elaborate, and this was my attempt at generating that look with what I’ve got on hand.
In truth I tried to jazz it up by smearing a ton of sunscreen into my skin and I wetted all my hair for sleekness, but the hair didn’t show and the sunblock really didn’t do anything.
