Title referencing of course, Blue Velvet. Caption revealing that this was shot from the comfort of an upright position. All semester I shot products on normal height tables and would have to spend the entire session all bent over to get on the same level. But now, with a much higher surface, I can stand and shoot. Great. Leap. Forward.
I borrowed a macro lens on a whim from school for a weekend and, as you can see, toyed around a bit. Incredible depth of field, for which I’m on the edge of concern that it may come off as negatively stylized/”typical.” But alas, my continued endeavors are largely based on technical exploration and refinement.
I like the fact that both Pabst and the top’s opening mechanism are in focus. Between them lay a minor protrusion of can, perhaps an inch closer to the lens, but enough to get really blown out.
