Watch this. I made it.
The photo has nothing to do with it, and I spent less than a minute finding a typeface/arranging it. That’s not the point today. It’s video time!
Ahhh, the perils of video and/or of the Canon 5d Mark II. I love the thing, but my computer does not. Whenever I dream of picking one up I remember I’d have to grab a new comp (an exciting thought), new memory stuff, new lens stuff, a new camera bag, and on and on and on. Thankfully by the time I can almost afford it the price will have dropped so much that I’ll more than cover it all.
So the computer I’ve got isn’t fast enough to edit this footage. The main computers at school/in the lab aren’t fast enough to edit this footage. There’s some powerful machines somewhere, and I’ll probably seek them out eventually, but not today/this weekend, my friend. So I converted all the files to a lower resolution. Then I used a different program (big mistake) to start editing. I was using iMovie HD because I figured it’d be easier to crank something out of that user friendlyness than the hulking Adobe Premiere. Bad idea. So much functionality that I needed. Not there. Auugughhghahasudh.
OK I’ll stop complaining. The footage is spectacular when viewed in a very small player. The editing… well, I’ll get better at that with a bit of practice. The sound. Don’t even go there.
But what I’m really trying to say is, thanks to Kelsey and Zivi of Describe the Fauna for letting me shoot their event, grab an interview, and begin the lovely ascent to video-dom.
