*My confidence, my grip on reality, my everything has been shaken. This is the view from the bar/lounge/whatever called SEVVA in Hong Kong (click me). Notice that includes the building pictured here on the right. Going into this post, I was so incredibly certain that Concrete Bldg Right was the one that housed this wonderful establishment. Now I see this photo and it doesn’t even have my favorite place in all of Hong Kong in it. Woe, sorrow and dread!… But you gotta admit, that’s quite the view to kick back a Heineken and some Doritos/Peanuts/somethingelse. Much thanks to Mike Nelson for introducing me to Sevva/luxury Hong Kong.
Photo wise, I have no complaints. Except perhaps that Bldgs Right are a bit tilty. Minor gripe.
On the lighter side, there’s a lot of detail going on here that I quite like. That staircase winding down into the shadows with its complex pattern formed from the curving rails and straight steps. Sky Scraper Left has something similar going on, in a very busy pattern sense.
On the smaller side, there’s a handful of genuine Hong Kong taxis cruising along in their small bodied red and white glory. They remind me of the first time I got in one, fresh off the container ship with little more than a bulging suitcase and an address scrawled on some paper. Also, between the mid-ground buildings, notice the towering high rises that define Hong Kong. Incredibly tall, and incredibly skinny (apparently land rights are ungodly expensive, so they just build 50 stories up on a plot of a couple square meters. See the full size photo HERE
Thanks Mike. Thanks Maya.
